Sweet Cherry Porridge

Cherries are one of my favourite sweet fruit. I love them on pancakes, in juices and they’re brilliant at breakfast.

These wonderful deep red beauties contain natural melatonin, which is a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger that helps “cool down” excess inflammation and associated oxidative stress. It also plays a vital role in sleep and bodily regeneration.

It’s thought that the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of tart cherries may have a protective effect to reduce muscle damage and pain during strenuous exercise.

INGREDIENTS

60g porridge oats

50ml Almond milk

Pitted cherries

Handful of raisins

Sprinkling of sunflower seeds

Sprinkling of linseed

Drizzle maple syrup

HERE’S HOW

Warm the almond milk along with 75ml of water. Add the porridge oats and stir through. You may want to add more or less water depending on how thick you like your porridge.

Stir the raisins through.

Spoon into a bowl and sprinkle the seeds and pitted cherries on top. Add a drizzle of maple syrup if you like it sweet.
